I believe that the best way to fall in love with a place is to understand how its pieces fit together. I grew up moving frequently as a military brat, which gave me a deep, lifelong fascination with the concept of "home" and how communities adapt to the distinct landscapes around them. When I arrived in Arizona, I realized I had uncovered a geographical masterpiece—the only state in the country defined by all four of North America’s major deserts.
I built findingaz.com to turn the rigorous science of a field naturalist into the pure joy of outdoor adventure. I don’t want to just point you toward a scenic overlook; I want to give you the keys to decode whatever environment you are standing in—whether you are hiking a rugged canyon trail, exploring a local museum, or sitting down to a meal featuring ancestral Southwest ingredients.
To ensure every field expedition and cultural highlight is backed by total accuracy, I have trained directly within Arizona’s leading environmental and botanical cooperative networks.

Actively leading educational guest tours on property. I share the incredible stories of our native desert plants, teaching visitors from around the world exactly how these species have evolved and learned to adapt to thrive in arid environments.

Trained deeply in our state's interconnected macro-systems. This background exposes me to critical regional concepts including desert ecology, local geology, wildlife tracking, native plants, water systems, and meaningful land acknowledgment.

Grounded in sustainable, regional horticulture. I specialize in the foundational concept of “right plant, right place,” understanding how native flora integrates perfectly into specific desert microclimates to support our broader ecosystems.
You cannot truly understand Arizona’s rich local culture, historic architecture, or regional food without first understanding the landscape that shaped them. My goal is to bridge that gap, helping you see how the geology and ecosystems of our four deserts directly influence how we live, create, and eat in the Southwest today.
Whether I'm tracking spring wildflower blooms in our southern valleys, exploring the high-altitude sage of the north, or hiking Maricopa County's regional trails with my family, my mission is to help you look closer, travel deeper, and find your own Arizona.
